Description
As the name suggests this was influenced by Florence, Italy and the carousel in one of the main piazza’s. Around the outside of the carousel had small paintings of different cities from around the world. When I came back to my studio I thought further on this idea and wanted to create something that not only reminded me of the carousel itself but took the viewer on a bit of a journey. I chose to complete this series of carousel art in homage to vintage travel posters. Almost advertising their destination as well as creating different characters for the horses themselves.
‘Firenze’ is very much based on what the actual carousel looked like with lots of bold colour. Using gauche for a more intense colour as well as various pencils to refine certain lines. The horses in the typical carousel pose with legs raised in a leap. Who will win the race?
